I am currently a member of GEMCare. Is there anything I need to do?
There is nothing that GEMCare members (patients) need to do. We will continue to operate as we have before and patient care will not be affected. You can continue to see your same primary and specialty care providers and do not need to change health plans. Our Comprehensive Care Center program will remain in place for qualified members.
If you have additional questions, please visit us at 4550 California Avenue, Suite 100 in Bakersfield or call our local Customer Service Representatives (661)716-7100 or (800)414-5860.
How does this announcement benefit patient care in the community?
This agreement is good news for our patients who will benefit in the long run from more integrated and comprehensive services for the community, including more coordination between health care providers and the possibility for additional health plan options. It will also enable GEMCare affiliated physicians to stay local and remain independent while continuing to offer the high quality care that our patients expect.
We also anticipate that we’ll be able to bring in additional needed primary and specialty care physicians into the community.
